The Cummins diesel generator has become a device for generating electricity after a power outage, its main function being to provide emergency power generation after a mains power outage. In general, diesel generator sets are mostly in standby mode, and there are relatively few opportunities for actual use. However, diesel generators, as emergency backup power equipment, are indispensable and can play an important role in critical moments. If the load capacity and various electrical characteristics of the diesel generator set do not meet the backup power requirements, it will be unable to supply power normally. Therefore, in order to ensure timely power supply and safe and reliable operation of Cummins diesel generators under the premise of less startup during normal times, it is necessary to do a good job in the maintenance of Cummins diesel generators.
Cummins diesel generator maintenance:
(1) Check the instruments of the Cummins diesel generator and observe if the readings are normal. Otherwise, it should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.
(2) Check if the startup, cooling, lubrication, fuel, and ventilation systems are functioning properly.
(3) Cummins diesel generator clean air filter. Take out the steel velvet and wash it in gasoline, then dry the oil pool of the cleaning filter with compressed air, and add an appropriate amount of new engine oil.
(4) Clean the cooling water radiator. Pour clean water into the radiator and remove any sediment until it is clean.
(5) Check the sealing condition of the intake and exhaust valves. Remove the cylinder head, observe the sealing and wear of the mating cone surface, and grind and repair if necessary.
(6) Clean the oil and fuel system pipelines of Cummins diesel generator. This includes cleaning the oil pan, oil pipes, oil cooler, fuel tank and its pipes, removing dirt, and blowing dry.
(7) According to the instructions, the three filters (oil engine filter, diesel filter, and air filter) and engine oil should be replaced regularly.
(8) Check the starting battery of the Cummins diesel generator. The positive and negative terminals of the starting battery are often corroded and oxidized by acid solution, so they should be cleaned in a timely manner to prevent affecting the start of the unit. Long battery life can also lead to a decrease in capacity. When the capacity drops to 80% of the rated capacity or the unit cannot be started, the battery should be replaced. It is recommended to replace it generally every 2 years.
